What Is Libidon?
Libidon is the A-16 prostate peptide bioregulator. Every organ in the Khavinson line has its own A-number. A-13 is the testes. A-16 is the prostate. A-17 is the adrenal glands. If the numbers are new to you, our guide on how to read the Khavinson A-number system breaks it down.
The prostate is a small gland about the size of a walnut. It sits just below the bladder. Like every organ, its cells keep making new proteins to stay in good working order, and that work changes as men get older.
Peptide bioregulators are short chains of amino acids. Each one is matched to a single type of tissue. The idea is simple. Your cells use short peptides as signals to keep making the proteins they need. As we age, those signals can fade. A bioregulator supplies the signal for one organ, so its cells have what they need to keep up normal protein synthesis.*
Libidon is a Cytomax. That means it is a natural complex of peptides filtered from tissue, not a single synthetic peptide. This is the original form Khavinson worked with for decades.
The Research Behind It
According to PubMed, Khavinson's 2002 review lays out the tissue-specific peptide model. In lab studies, a peptide preparation from one organ supported the growth of cells from that same organ, but not from other organs. The review lists the prostate among the organs his group studied (PMID 12374906).
A 2009 paper looks back on 35 years of this work. It describes the proposed model behind it: short peptides may pair with the promoter sites of genes, the "start here" regions where protein building begins (PMID 19827673).
How does a peptide in a capsule reach the cell? A 2022 study describes how very short peptides are carried into cells by natural transport proteins known as POT and LAT carriers (DOI 10.3390/ijms23147733).
